Day 4 – My Dream Job

When I was younger, I had so many dream jobs. One of them was to be a teacher and that one I achieved but I was always dreaming of being a singer or a musician.

I think it’s in my genes. My family is very musical. I guess the church played a big role in my love for music. My brother and sister, they also sing in church. I have many cousins who play the instruments and sing well too.

If you will go in one of our family gatherings, singing will always be there. Well, maybe that part is already cultural. Filipinos love Karaoke. A party is not complete without Karaoke.

Music and singing is a big part of me, it’s deep in my soul. It would be nice to sing and play the instruments at the same time earning money from doing it.

How about you? What’s your dream job?

Day 3 – My Favorite Quote

I have a lot favourite quotes but this is what I try to practice and apply in my life now.

“Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.”

–Charles Swindoll

What I’ve discovered not good about myself is that I’m impulsive. There were many reactions and decisions that I regret because of my impulsiveness and how I wish I could turn back time and change the way I reacted and decided.

I’m an emotional person and most of the time being emotional leads me to pain, bitterness, and sadness. It takes a lot of prayer and practice to control my emotions and react positively to every hurtful word or stressful situation. I’m still working on it and have to remind myself everytime to react calmly and positively.

We react and act by how we think and I believe if we can learn how to captive and control our thoughts, we would be able to react rationally.

I am thankful for having such a wonderful family who always choose to understand. I’m also blessed to have such a patient husband. My life can never be perfect but I’m lucky to have such amazing people around me.

Day 2 – Five Interesting Facts About Me

I admit, to think of something interesting facts about yourself is not as easy as day 1 but I had a fun time thinking about it. My husband also accepted the challenge but he does his challenge on FB and I enjoy what he’s writing. It’s a nice feeling that we got to do the same thing. Anyways, here are the five facts about me.

Fact # 1 I was born at home and my grandma delivered me.

Yes, you heard it right, my grandma was the one who delivered me and I love it when my mom tells me the story. My grandma was a faith healer and when my mom said her water broke, my grandma told her to sit on the bed. Granny bent towards her head and whispered something in Latin. My mom felt like she was going to urinate and when she did, I came out with it. She didn’t have to push me at all. It was an amazing story.

Fact # 2 I got in trouble in school when I was 11 years old for slapping my classmate’s face.

When I was in grade-school I was an easy target for bullying because I was shy and quiet. Back then I was a fan of one of the Tele Novelas (TV Soap Opera) entitled Mara Clara. I watched a scene in one of the episodes where Mara (the nice girl) fought back and slapped Clara (the bad girl) because she was fed up with the bullying. When Clara was about to slap back, Mara stopped her by holding her hand so she was not hit. And guess what, I did the same thing to the girl in school who was trying to bully me. I was sent to the principal’s office.

Fact # 3 I don’t watch horror movies.

No one can convince me to watch horror movies even my husband. The last time I watched a horror movie I was terrified for a couple of weeks and couldn’t go to the bathroom without being paranoid. I swore to myself, it will be the last horror movie for me.

Fact # 4 I am a musical person.

I always love singing even when I was little. I can play the guitar, keyboards, and ukelele.

Fact # 5 I love everything Japanese.

I am amazed by Japanese people and their culture. I even tried to learn Nihongo before but forgot what I’ve learned eventually. Going to Japan and teaching there is always on my bucket list.

There you are, I hope I didn’t bore you! Can’t wait to read what my husband’s five facts are.

Day 1 – Name my Blog

How did I come up with my blog’s name? I already had an existing WordPress blog before I created this one, but since I just got married, I thought I would set up another blog to share my journey as a wife. I had listed a number of names and checked if they were already taken. When I have already sorted them out, I asked my siblings to pick out what they liked the most. In the end, I have come up with happywifeyheart. My brother loved it and my husband liked it too! I wrote about what this blog is all about in the About section.

I chose the happywifeyheart as the name for my blog because being a wife is a lot of work and there will be times when we will feel that it’s too much and the problems can drag us down stealing our joy and happiness. By admitting that we are facing a problem and by assessing our situations with honesty, a resolution could not be far. We have the choice to walk away but we also have the choice to deal with the situation and be willing to look at our shortcomings or weaknesses. I always believe that the truth sets us free, and when we always search for truth in our marriage, it leads to a resolution that makes our relationship with our spouses stronger, better, and happier.
